Homework: Today Students' will complete pages 2 and 3 of Scientific Method.
Due: 9/18/15
9/22/15 Homework: Today you watched a demonstration on making ice cream in a bag. There was an invisible process occurring in the bag with the Kosher Salt added. The salt on ice lowered the temperature in the bag. As the energy was being released from the bag and the constant shaking(vigor or rigor), your cream was transformed into a solid. Ice cream!

Today you had to determine the control in the experiment involving many variables. Review your notes as always.
9/24/15 Homework: Review your notes from page 7 of Science notebook. There will be a short assessment to see how well you understand the Scientific Method.

September 29,2015 Homework: Review your notes. You should be getting a good idea of what a variable is as well as a hypothesis is in the scheme of structure and function. Notebooks should be neat and purposeful. They serve as a resource.

9/30/15 Homework: Take ten minutes to review your notes nightly. We we look at page 196 and 197 of your science notebooks to determine which of the 8 Engineering practices we have been using, and what Seven Cross Cutting Concepts have we used during our four science Labs completed?

10/5/15 Homework: Complete the parts of the Microscope. It is on the back of page entitled "How to Use a Microscope."

10/20/15 Homework: 5th Grade- You will need to collect 5 environmental pictures to either build a collage or tunnel book. We have been viewing "micro" objects. Things that we can not see with the naked eyes. The microscope has allowed us to see/observe many things such as: cheek cells, onion cells, M&M pointillism on wrappers, grape cross sections etc. Bring in a medium of choice, magazines involving nature, small attached twigs from trees, leaves, small pebbles, or anything micro world that can be explained our unit of study.
6th Grade- Your quick readiness to work, work completion, safety, and clean-up in a major part of your grade (participation). Be ready to finish the reading of page B-52 to begin Unit C Erosion and Deposition Chapter 24.

10/21/15 Homework: Remember to bring in your pictures and materials for project. It should be centered around things that are visible to the naked eye: cells, designs that make a picture using pointillism (M&M wrapper), bugs, fruit, sand, etc..We want visual appeal. We will continue our in-class reading and discussions on "germs.

10/22/15 Homework: Fifth grade- bring your art work for micro objects project.Sixth grade bring color pencils to class.

10/29/15 Homework: 5th Grade will begin their short story to accompany George killing the Dragon portrait. Room 303 will write a poem or short story of the microscope and images the viewed this quarter. Bring in five pictures or cross sections of images.They should be different dimensions.

10/30/15 Homework: Writing samples are due for all 5th graders. Please proof read your work. You may write an expository piece, a poem, or description on viewing the micro world. Remember their should be a total of five pictures for display. This a reflection of what we have seen using the microscope. How does your work tie into the 8 Science Engineering Practices and/or The Seven Cross
Cutting Concepts.

5th Grade and 6th Grade were issued the Scientific Method for upcoming Science Fair scheduled for December 8th. It was just decided that the Fifth Graders' will have a math project instead with Mrs. Krejca. The Sixth Grade class will have the Science Fair Project.
A title is due for Sixth Grade on Tuesday, November 16,2015.
11/19/15 Homework: 5th grade will come up with an activity they can accomplish in exactly 1 minute (duration). Please write it out so that we can test it our. 6th grade will write a 2-3 sentence abstract/thesis telling up what project is about and what you plan to solve.

1/5/16 HAPPY New Year Everyone! Welcome Back, It's great seeing all of you. This week in Science involves review: 5th Grade is reviewing Sun energy/light energy and moon cycles in Earth Space Science. 6th Grade is reviewing Weathering, erosion, and deposition.Think about Boom Town in planning were to build your home and the stability of land.
Homework: Grade 5- Write and bring in facts about the many types of soil. Include why it is important to know.
Grade 6- Be able to discuss WED (weathering, erosion, and deposition) what are the advantages or dis advantages of the process.
